About the Event

When we reach the pinnacle of our aspirations, we carry the afterglow around with us for days. There’s no better feeling. That warm golden glow that comes after our dreams are realized. But can it last?

Meet The Curator

His memoir about growing up gay and goth in Texas is called, Bad Kid, based on his New York Times Critics’ Pick solo show of the same name. David is currently a member of the Groundlings Sunday Company in Los Angeles and a professor of Autobiographical Performance at Occidental College.

Meet Your Storytellers

Trulli Paul E. Rayanna Sandi Asher
Sammie James Paul E. Reese Rayanna Christian Sandi Marx Asher Tessler
I'm a Queer trans woman with a decade of stand-up improv and storytelling experience. I have also worked with several LGBT-focused nonprofits and I am very passionate about supporting and protecting my trans community especially trans youth. I also enjoy horror movies, herbal tea, and peppering weird animal facts into everyday conversations. I've lived in Philly for the past ten years. I've been working in the arts since college in 2008, and most recently in lockdown, I've been producing content for the internet. I love baking, bicycling, and bringing joy to people's lives. Currently I'm training to be a chaplain -- prisons, hospitals, churches -- I desire to help people find their belatedness and their voice. I'm queer, black, autistic, and currently working to escape the buckle of the bible belt. Years of escaping reality through books, anime, and online gay nonsense have inspired my stories, both true and fiction. I’m a retired talent agent, who’s been a comedian/storyteller for the past 7 years. I can be seen and heard on a multitude of podcasts and have won 7 Moth story slams. Last year I debuted my solo show at Joe's Pub and am quite proud of the fact that I began my performance career at 59. I'm Asher, a 23-year-old trans man from Massachusetts that loves cats, Colin Firth, and crafts. I graduated with a degree in film and theater and am interested in the dramaturgy of life, finding out how history and our own personal narratives inform our future communities.
