Send a Philly Storyteller to the National StorySlam in Chicago!

Chicago is a glutton for punishment. Even though First Person Arts wrecked their storytellers at last year’s Philly vs. Chicago StorySlam, they’re challenging us again. StorySlammers from across the country have been invited to Chi-town to rep their hometowns at the first-ever National StorySlam at the 2010 Chicago Tribune Printers Row Lit Fest on June 13th.

We’re sending Michael McCarry, winner of the 2010 Philly vs. DC slam. Who better to represent Philadelphia than a poet turned baseball player turned car salesman, equal parts skeptic and hopeless romantic? McCarry will wow Chi-town with his larger-than-life style and a story worthy of the City of Brotherly Love. (Watch his recent winning story below!)

To make this awesome opportunity happen, we have to raise $600 for Mike’s airfare and other travel expenses by June 7th. That’s just three weeks away! Will you donate today and make this storyteller sojourn a reality? Donations of any size, starting with $5 will make a huge dent.
