Emerging artists. Local artists. Painters. Photographers. Writers. Videographers. Musicians. Artists pushing the boundaries of memoir and documentary art. These are the types of artists you’ll find at the First Person Salon Series.

The First Person Salon Series is a forum for emerging artists to present their memoir and documentary-based art. Focusing primarily on local artists working across various media, the First Person Salon Series provides an opportunity for artists to share their work, processes and inspirations. Past presenters have included poet Sonia Sanchez, photographer J.J. Tiziou, writer Lorene Cary, dancer Nicole Bindler, and muralist Steve Powers.

The 2010 First Person Salon Series will present events across the Philadelphia area. Check this page regularly for added events.

i do school assemblies for elementary and middle schools on Immigration. I have a story I tell about my Uncle Lou’s journey from the Ukraine through Ellis Island. I use his accent and native clothing.

I would love to have a chance to perform. Can you describe the audition process?

I have not yet been to the First Person salon, but plan on coming this 10/14.

    thanks!
