What a great idea! I get the image of recipe cards, hand written in faded blue ink, stained with splatters from long-ago meals, the history of a family shared through its culinary DNA.

I often host Day of the Dead dinner parties. Guests bring a favorite dish of a deceased relative, as well as something for the night's altar.

We tell stories about our loved ones and their food and feel that much closer both to the past and the very vivid present.

It's a fun tradition; try it next November 1st!
